Hybrid registered way back in 1956. Very nice!. They are so easy to grow that they are undervalued.

However (at least over here Arthur), they're pretty rare outside of a botanical garden. People cringe here at the thought that THEY might be able to grow an orchid outside.
Of course your climate suits far more epiphytic orchids, while we can do only do terrestrials outside.

I purchased one for my window sill, but it "passed away" after flowering once.

I've had it outdoors at two different houses I've owned. The bane here is early emergence of the shoots followed by a late frost. Sometimes the frost results in loss of the plant (unfortunately)...and certainly weakens it. My area is typified by rapid temperature swings, two weeks ago we had 4F, day before yesterday 68F. And we may have snow tonight or tomorrow (again).

I suspect planting deeper isn't an option..but perhaps piling a bit of white mulch (like shredded newspaper) to reduce heat to the soil in spring might help. I'm going to try it this time.

I really like these orchids, here in FL the sun is too hot so I plant mine in large pots and set them under my orange tree and they then do wonderful. The orange tree kills anything I plant in the ground as it eats up all the nutrients and water so pots work wonderful for these orchids.

Well, I see both other new growths are also going to produce spikes for me. I think that dispels the myth of needing cold to produce flowers in bletilla. I'm thoroughly impressed with WellSpring Gardens. Tiny plants of an eclectic nature..but definitely quality.
