Palm tree troubles

A parlor palm 8ft tall(pushing against ceiling) It's in a self-watering pot(last 3yrs) Very healthy--growing new fronds regularly. The plant is 9yrs old in a round pot 16"X16". Recently leaves on various fronds are shooting straight out w/edges curled upward. Misting repeatedly does not help in flattening & getting them to softly curl downward as they should. The ceiling height is a concern. Why are the leaves pointing out straight? Green & healthy otherwise. Repotted 3yrs ago. No room for tall pot---maybe wider? Any ideas would be welcomeÃ¯Â¿Â½...

You're right----It's a Kenia Palm. The owner of the shop I bought it @ said "do nothing" The plant is healthy, overgrown it's space (well above the window) & is now confused when the sunlight is coming from. He said I need to find it a new home w/more ceiling height and and taller windows. Makes me sad after 9yrs.

Yes, it needs a home where it can grow more and reach for sunlight above it.

All kids grow up...you wouldn't want it to stay tiny forever would you ? :)
