guess it depends how many palms are in your clump and what size they are⦠you talking about seedlings? Once mature, they are super easy to tell apart, but as dinky seedlings it might be a bit more challenging. First of all, Dypsis lutescens have shinny green, smooth leaves, while Ravenea rivularis tend to have duller green and ridged leaves. Also Dypsis lutescens sucker like crazy, so as they age, there will always be new suckers. Raveneas do NOT sucker, so a clump will remain just as it is, only getting fatter and largerâ¦. eventually some of the palms may succumb to the competition. Also, Dypsis lutescens have a lot of yellow and white in their stems, while Raveneas have dull green and grey in theirs.
