Looks like a good candidate for the air layering method of propagation.

With air layering, you can do it with other branches also, not just suckers. However, I tend to think of this method when seeing suckers since they seem just like the good choice to have this procedure.

I don't know about size limit, if it has the same plant structure as an older/thicker branch. But one of the fun things of gardening is to give it a try!

Fair enough! I guess I'll just have to try air-layering on it. I think these are easy to induce stem roots on so it should work okay. I might try air-layering one and taking one of the suckers off and see which one does better. Thanks for the advice!

I have a sherwood jujube and want to graft another variety on it to allow pollination. What varieties ao you have?

All our jujubes (and most of the ones grown locally) appear to be seed grown and thus unnamed varieties. The seedling in my last update is about 4 or 5 feet talk now and growing nicely after the late summer and early fall rains. It's flowering now too surprisingly (thought it was too young) so hopefully will set some fruit. I'll try to remember to take a picture when I get home.

I was looking at some nice 6 foot tall ones for sale at the nursery yesterday that were flowering but the were a bit expensive at 89 bucks a pop, and the variety wasn't listed, just Thornless Jujube.

There is a large, old Jujube tree in the yard next to mine. It puts up shoots in my yard constantly. How can I stop this? I don't want them in my yard. How do I get rid of them for good?
