What plants are you trying to root at this time of year?

For me I mainly am rooting salvias which are annuals, but the difficult or slow to root one I refer to is cuphea schumannii which is the one I experimented on , on the other hand cuhea david verity roots very easy.

Lavender cuttings struggling -

We have tried cuttings from lavender plants in the main house over fall and winter months. Soil is kept damp and we began with rooting hormone but they don't show much if any growth.

I'm concerned the home heating/AC system may be drying the leaves out. We do mist daily as well.

Adding a clear humidity dome to the trays creates mold on marker sticks within 2 days.

Humidity in the area of the grow setup is 45%.

I'd appreciate any ideas as to learning how to get a better start for the cuttings.

Lavender doesn't like Humidity in their foliage, you may have too much foliage on the cuttings, but without seeing how your cuttings look, it's hard to say.

I agree with your foliage comment, I'm trimming back on many. My wife doesn't get it that a few leaves are all the cutting needs!

Probably not in a garden center, but if your a commercial plant propagator then they are available thru a growers supply.

Herbaceous plants, such as chrysanthemum, are easy to treat using low concentrations by the Spray Drip Down Method or Total Immerse Method. The Total Immerse and Spray Drip Down methods can be used interchangeably. The active ingredients are absorbed into the leaves and stems the transported to the basal end where it induces root formation.
