I would think Diatomaceous earth (DE) would fix you up.

The Diatomaceous earth idea is sound but in our area (sub tropical) we get lots of rain this time of year and it is humid all year round so it will not work in this area.

Any one have any other ideas on how to keep ants out of worms in windrows.

OK, I'm sorry.

All I know about controlling ants is one of the main reasons I prefer to do most of my vermi-stuff in plastic bins. The few times early-on that ants showed up I couldn't do anything with them.

Well my other thought would not work for you either if it is very wet there already. Ants tend to prefer a drier environment so if they are in a worm bin it could be too dry and keeping it wetter could help to deter them.

If you can source the DE inexpensively I would try it between rains. Might be able to get them to carry enough home to get the job done. Of course if you can follow the trail to the nest it would be most effectively applied there.

Are the ants hurting anything?
