Creating a Green Wall

So in the midst of a 12 inch of snowfall today I'm really missing gardening weather and thought I'd start thinking ahead for spring time gardening.

The dilemma: I would like to create a 5 foot green wall on either side of this arbor in my backyard and was thinking of taking out the low fence rails and putting in a metal grid wall and growing some sort of vine or climbing plant up it.

Essentially I want it to look like the arbor is a door into a secret garden beyond the wall into the back area.

The green wall would be a backdrop for the plants in front. I have a climbing rose growing up each side of the arbor and some low shrub roses that would be in the front of the wall as well.

I was thinking perhaps Euonymus Colorata. I've included a picture as well from the internet that I found showing someone who had success with this plant.

Can anyone foresee any difficulties? Or have some alternative suggestions? I worry about the invasiveness of some of these plants.
I live in Toronto, Ontario, Canada (zone 5)
It would be a south facing wall and mostly sunny.
