If I evenly spread hard sugar candy pieces in my cold cellar worm bin would that generate little dots of heat?

I have put very small amounts of candy in the bin with no problems. It sounds like you want to do more then that.

Blend the candy up with some straw or dried leaves, add a little moisture then spread in an even layer and viola... bioelectric blanket.
