using fan

11 years ago

We just moved into a new townhouse. The appliance package included a slide in Kitchen Aid gas range (Architect II Series). There is an over the range microwave with a fan that vent to the outside (I believe it's 300 cfm).

I've never cooked with gas before and even though, I'm liking it, I worry about the fumes it can produce. I've read that you should have the fan going while cooking, not sure if that included using the oven.

I only used to use the fan on my old electric when I fried something. The noise of the fan is driving me crazy.

Do I need to have it going the whole time I'm using it, even when just simmering something like spaghetti sauce?
