Google "Solar Driven Moisture in Brick Veneer". Dr Joe Lstiburek is the best potty mouth, building science guy in the business and he has a great article on the problem.

Not saying it is your problem without a lot more information but Joes article is a great place start.

I suspect something indoors is putting a lot of humidity in or near wall cavity. Cloths dryer is #1 suspect. Make certain that A. the vent isn't venting inside wall B, vent is not stopped up.

What you don't mention is whether they bricks are wet all the time, or just after a rain.

If it's the latter and the space behind the brick is dry, what is the problem?

Brick absorbs water and release it.

The bricks used when your home was built are most likely concrete brick not clay based. Often a pallet or partial pallet of brick will come out of the factory improperly manufactered. Sounds like yours absorb moisture. A hard rain is not required to wet the brickwork. Like Worthy asks " Are they wet all the time?"

I have never seen this cause a moisture problem that eventually will infiltrate the building envelope, at least not here in southern Ontario. More of a cosmetic issue. The gap between the brick and house wrap will take care of any infiltration if moisture gets behind the brickwork. That's what is supposed to happen if the home was constructed properly.

If you are really concerned about it, a penetrating (still vapor permeable) sealant will work. Prosco makes some good products as well.

Southerncanuck is correct that ventilated brick is rarely a cause for concern. Most issues are flashing and other detail related when it comes to letting water into the home.
