air handler question

Can someone tell me if the air handler in the attached photo is the more efficient model or the base model TAM7 AOA24H21SDB. It was just installed under my house to work with a 2 ton Trane XR13 or the equivalent current model XR14 I believe. I specifically asked my contractor and he said this was the one he had to use for my heat pump. I had asked for a TAM 36 recommended by tigerdunes. I am beginning to wonder about this contractor. He tried to switch me from the XR series to the XB series. Thanks in advance for any help given.

Contact the manufacturer with your questions. I would wonder too, you ask for something and get something else. A lot of these clowns have got a lot of balls, especially today. They assume every one is dumb bell or won't take the time to do the research. Good for you.

It is difficult to follow your situation with multiple threads.

I thought we were talking about a 2 1/2 ton system not 2 ton. Which is it?

Still on HP Directory as active.

The TAM7 024 size is wrong for a 2 1/2 ton XR13 condenser and will cost you dearly in heating efficiency.

    I am done here.

    IMO

Sorry for the confusion. The contractor convinced me that two 2 ton units were better than two 2 1/2 ton units. I could kick myself for not making him show me his load calculation. I am beginning to think he didn't do one. From your posts, I gathered that you could use a larger air handler for nominal cost and get about a SEER improvement in efficiency. So my question is if I stay with the 2 ton unit, is the TAM7 024 the best air handler or would the TAM7 30 improve the efficiency if I stay with the 2 ton unit?

I'm sorry about the multiple threads and the frustration it has caused. I am just trying to make sense of this all and am getting the feeling that I did not pick the right contractor and he is putting his interests ahead of mine. Only one air handler is installed and I am considering stopping all work until I can meet with the salesman, owner and job foreman to get this straightened out while everything else is still boxed up.

Not the best choice for heating. See below.

The TAM7 030 size is clearly the better choice. Cost difference insignificant.

Makes me wonder though about the condenser especially since you don't have a load calc in hand.

Thank you so much. That is what I suspected. So if I the 2 ton unit is the right size, the TAM7 24 will work but the 30 would be better. If it turns out the load calc calls for a 2 1/2 ton, then I will insist on a TAM7 36.

I am going to stop work until I can meet with the owner, salesman and foreman and require them to show me the load calculation and go from there. Thank you. You don't know how much this has helped me.
