Christmas tables

We just got back from a few days away and are scurrying around to finish up the prep for Christmas day at home with our daughters. On Christmas Eve we go to my SIL's house for a family gathering. Due to travel time, we don't get home until well after midnight. That requires planning ahead for Christmas dinner. We start with breakfast in the LR, while opening gifts, then later we have dinner. From our home to yours: Happy Holidays!

We start with breakfast in the LR:

Merry Christmas from Billie, as she watches me wrap!

We've used this table setting (or similar) twice this season-- for a lunch and a dinner for immediate family. Will use something similar for Christmas Eve, but with giant crackers that contain musical instruments! We'll also be celebrating my visiting nephew's birthday. I am using the casual dishes and glassware this year because with 11 people for each meal over three days... that's a LOT of handwashing.

On Christmas day we will trot out my nutcracker tablecloth, which I have not used in a few years, so I can use my new nutcracker napkin rings with it!

Not my picture, and I am using the red napkins with them:

I am ridiculously excited about using these napkin rings!

This was set for a ladies dinner party I hosted a few weeks ago. Did something similar for a Sunday brunch last weekend. After feeding 22 at Thanksgiving, I really enjoyed the small numbers!

I love, love Bille! So cute, I had a blenheim, loved her, now I have a ruby, Katie. Oh, I had a tricolor also.

I love seeing all of these pretty table settings. I think I might "need" some nutcracker napkin rings!

Such pretty tables. Kswl, I love your nutcracker napkin rings. I can understand your excitement. We serve buffet style, so there's no pretty table setting to share...:-(

Like Bumble, I don't seem to have it all together this year. Here is my table.

I have neglected to put the sterling on, yet. I didn't polish it this year, and although it still looks good, I am waiting until morning to set it out. I don't want any tarnishing to go on during the night. :)

I also do not have the name tags done. They will be gold and stick on top of the napkin rings.

The center piece will be all lit up with a candle in each red holder, and each mercury cup.

Wine glasses and salad plates will be brought in as dinner is served.

I am ready to fill all the plates and platter for the Christmas Eve buffet.

Beautiful tables! Each one is special and inviting. Thanks for sharing.

I don't have a set table to post, though I've done tons of cooking & baking to bring to meals away. We celebrate tonight at my sister's and tomorrow at DH's parents'. We'll return here for a casual evening meal & gift exchange with DD/SIL & fam.

nhbaskets, first time seeing the light fixture in your new DR. Love! Wishing you and yours a Merry Christmas from down the road ;)

    I love those nutcracker rings!

Thanks to all who advised removing the little shades off the light fixture. Merry Christmas!

This is a photo from when DH and I were still setting up.

I posted the napkin rings in the vintage decor thread. I got these at a local vintage holiday market. They are reindeer though they look like kittens.

{{gwi:2142019}}Looking at the picture, I can see the table needs a little umph...maybe chargers or something. I don't put glassware out since everyone drinks something different and we take care of it when we sit down. The centerpiece will move to the end of the table in front of the window, set up in the opposite direction, before we eat since we are only seven.

Sorry that last pic is a little blurry. Here is the centerpiece. I clipped the greens laying on the table from the garden at the last minute.

Our Christmas afternoon meal with a Nutcracker theme....I wish I had taken a better picture showing the napkin rings. The tablecloth was a gift from a friend seven or eight years ago.

The eight white crackers each contained one piece of a xylophone and a mallet. The crowns and notes were numbered, and there was a conductors baton in one, so we had a fun time trying to play songs after supper.

I just love looking at all of these beautiful, festive tables. KSWL, the nutcracker tablecloth and napkin rings are awesome.

Kswl......your Nutcracker table is fabulous! I sure do get inspiration from everyone's pics....hopefully next year my table will look more festive.

Beautiful tables! They look so festive and I love seeing the diversity.
Hope everyone's guests enjoyed the feast for the eyes, as well as the tummies!

What a "feast" for the eyes! All of the tablescapes are festive and inviting! I smiled as I scrolled through...

This was set for Christmas Eve dinner, just my son, DIL, hubs, my grandson who is 5 and myself. Nothing fancy but at least I used my china!

Kept things simple this year and appreciated the lack of stress.
