Paperwork area: To do backsplash or not?

We have a similar "office/paper depot" single- cabinet & countertop in our kitchen except that ours is on a separate wall. I noticed you didn't tile that part of the backslash. I'm debating whether I should tile mine to help connect it, or if I should leave it bc I don't use it for food prep. Suggestions?
