Has anyone else gotten one? Is it for real?

editing posts is better in this format, you can actually delete posts and threads you created.

    I still see 'marciaz3'

This is weird. I was looking at my profile and this thread is here. Haven't found where you can edit anything yet.

if you look at any post or thread you made you will see a pencil in the top right corner, click on it to view options.

Yep, saw it. This is going to take some getting used to! Is uploading a picture any easier?

I do not like the new format and will probably quit Garden web. Why fix something that isn't broken

It's really kind of an odd format, but maybe will make sense over time. Or we'll get used to it, just like everything else.

    Yeah..that's nice!...and another one.

    I miss the zone ratings

Konrad, very nice!! I will raise with a hummingbird moth (yeah I know name lol) and a hummingbird. From what I see, worth at least a pair....what do you all have?

Regarding zone ratings - I wonder if they think that because it's a Far North Forum we're all in roughly the same zone. Is there a place here where we can ask for things? A suggestions place? Have to keep an eye out for it.

Nice pair! Not sure what you mean.

The old format just looked allot better! ..And when you did a entry post, the title turned red

and you quickly could see where you posted before just by scrolling through!

Lol...they don't, didn't, will never care about zones. It is an acquisition to increase traffic. I doubt they care if the forums succeed.

Soooo...you are looking at my pair are ya!!! I Raise the pot!!

How about a great spangled fritillary and a mormon fritillary?

Oh my, you are playing the three of a kind card already....well fine!

I didn't want to show my hand already but I will "Skipper" (woodland) to a "Soon To Be 'FULL HOUSE' "

    Don't force my hand again!!!!

Well this is new...and they got my hotmail account now too.....and they wouldn't let me use my name either. Collin 2b regina

Well I didn't have to change my name too much. But somewhere out there is apparently an imposter "weeper"...*narrows eyes*

Not loving the new site, but whatever. I come for the people and the advice!

Yes, that's true. I guess we'll stick around then!

Amazingly enough no one on Houzz had my name. lol

rosesstink (Honorary Far North member from upstate NY. Hi Marcia!)

LOL Forgot your name here! Lots of rose people here, but not too many of them think roses stink! :D

Rose people generally don't think they (roses) stink. They're wrong but I still like them (the people). ;-)

Just discovered one can nicely describe one's zone rating in the last name section of "Edit Profile" in the top right hand corner menu

I am at a loss for words lol

Loving the photos and the comments back and forth from all of you. I am also in the boat of those who do not like the new format. The site is now so plain looking...black and white. I miss the opening page with Laurie's rose photo with snow on it.

Oh, and I still have my name!!!

Wow, I envy you gardeners who can start seeds early... I made the mistake of growing my cat so 'catgrass' a few years ago... now she thinks everything green is fair game! lol

By the way, I'm in Thompson dreaming of summer. I've been spending my summers in the Carman area these past 3 years (developing gardens so I have something to do once I retire...;- )

Valleyrimgirl, I had a deer problem when I was in Ontario. I hung bars of Irish Spring soap in knee highs throughout my garden. It worked and the deer left my perennials alone. Also, dog hair (acquired from groomers) spread around my beds seemed to work on deer and rabbits but you have to keep replacing it. Also, I checked out your plants for trade, my plant stock is too young for trade still, would you be interested in a "sell" option? I can be reached at softandsweet55@hotmail.com. Perhaps we could discuss this option.

We've had a couple of gardeners from Thompson post here over the years. One had lovely gardens and she also took care of the gardens at the zoo there.

I was able to keep my name after a lot of hassle.. Didn't get an initial e-mail re change . I find this site lacking in character-- thank goodness the people make up for it as northern gardeners have to have a sense of humour away been away for awhileas my husband Pat passed away very suddenly --never ever sick ,

Oh Lois, i'm so sorry. Sunflowers to you!

    thanks

Have you noticed, some pictures are not showing up, for instance, [my blackberry thread]..what might be the reason. Houzz problem?

Just weird, ..have asked houzz. Answer,..

Were your photos hosted elsewhere and embedded previously? If so, they will not show. If you would like to comment with the photos again, you can add them directly to the post by clicking the Photo button in your comment box. Sorry about the confusion!

NO host, I have done it from desktop.

Where is photo button in comment box??

Probably I could edit back the photo but no edit button on these posts, I can only see edit button on the last post above.

    No preview really sucks!

Come to the forum on FB, Konrad - a lot easier to upload photos and even make albums for us.

But,..lets say, someone starts a Blackberry thread,..will Google gets me to that thread and does it has the same exposure then Gardenweb??

No, you're right, Konrad. I don't think Google would find it in that case. I didn't think of that. And so far, there haven't been many topic-specific threads started over there. You could still join, though - it would be nice to have you there. :)

Konrad, a few of us also started up another actual forum at http://farnorthgardening.ca/forums/ and we have the Google bot buzzing through multiple times a day! You can edit/delete posts, bookmark, subscribe for email notices on different topics or posts, upload photos directly from your computer or phone and it is completely ad free. The facebook version works for some, but unfortunately it just wasn't what I was looking for but I know lots who are a part of both.

    It wouldn't open for me.

Hmm, that's strange the link didn't work, but just put farnorthgardening.ca into your browser and it'll take you there.

OK..looking good and it got this far north name! Not ready yet to make a move.

Ah, I figured out that there was a space at the end of the link and it's removed now, so it will work.

Not a problem at all, Konrad! It's just another option for people to consider. :)

What I like is that I can join all three places and there are always different people posting about a different topic on each site, whether on the Far North Gardening site in Facebook, whether the Far North Gardening site on the internet or here on Houzz.

High traffic forum like this took many years to establish, [and I'm a member of] is hard to beat.

And Far North is one of the higher traffic ones. Some of the others are incredibly slow.
