That is the real color. Here it is with most buds open...

It's a lovely color...I'm picky I tend to be somewhat offput by the lack of foliage on a flowering plant (any flowering plant)...though I know it's only to be expected on a nobile.

To me, orchid plants without flowers are not much to look at. There are exceptions. But when in flower, I never notice the plant.

I've never been successful growing these nobile type dens. I am trying one more time. So excited two plants with just a few buds on each. I hope it won't be too much longer for me to wait. Fingers crossed that they don't blast or suffer some other malady.

Best of luck...The Nobiles are treated like my other orchids except I stop fertilizer at the end of sept. and vert little water. When they are budding they go back to the same as all the other orchids. Young, non blooming size plants are continuously fed and watered.

OK, I was wondering about water and feeding now that they are in bud. I read Yamamoto's notes, but nothing specific about watering AFTER bud set. I've just been misting the aerial roots well each morning. I'll resume water and light feeding.
