Our garage is unpainted and we'd like to spruce it up when we go in and clean/move/remodel in the next few weeks(who am I kidding. Will probably take months, but...) The drywall was installed and never painted or protected. In some areas, the "white plaster" has been washed off of it(namely in the process of washing cars), so the bare coating of what looks like brown paper is exposed. There is no other signs of water damage--no water spots, mold, etc. Can I just use something like a can of spray texture over this and then paint over it?
