Not again!!!!!!!!!

It took me a long time to warm up to the last changes garden web made to the forums. This is already looking like a much bigger change with the merger to Houzz. I think this is going to be a longer time of adjustment and I am not sure I will ever approve. I just hope the overall experience is better than the thread listings.

WTF? I just posted a thread to the hot pepper forum regarding the new layout and it posted it to the "ADVICE" forum. I'm with you, Bruce. Hate the new layout!

Question: How can I sign in as a different user/member ?

    EDITED:

Never mind . I fixed it.

Go up to the right side of the page and change the settings on Your Houzz. Try changing your screen name there.

Go to your profile and change your first and last name...that is what will show up replacing your username...I lost my old username as well.

Ya I don't care for this I like the links changing colors so I know if there is something new. I'm not gonna remember how many post there are

you can also make some changes in advance settings, turning off all those posts that come to your regular inbox (not the one here) Dont turn off the someone messages me. I believe that is for here.

It took 3 tries to finally confirm my old info. I'm guessing it actually works now...

I have to question any "FORUM" site that has a damn shopping cart on it. What the heck???

What about blogs, trade lists, etc...... Growing zones and locations no longer showing up. I am hating this more and more.

I guess we get what we pay for.

I totally agree. Absolutely hate the new layout, no zones listed, and I lost my old user name. I hate "change"

Go to edit, about me. Put your zone and other relevant info there. I think for a trade list we can just use one of the other boxes listed in there. Add a pic under profile.

You guys are doing great -- you're figuring it out! Thanks for sharing your tips.

Trade lists are on the list of 'to come'. If anyone is having trouble getting their account to work, please let me know.

How do we get emails to work? You cant just click on the name and send email?

    HI Ronny -

If you find another user you would like to receive updates from in your feed, just go to their profile page and click the Follow button you find there. Once you follow another user, their site activity will appear in the feed on your profile page. That user will also be able to message you through the Houzz system, unless you have turned off the messaging feature in your profile settings.

You can message any other Houzz user that follows you by visiting their profile and clicking on the message button you see there. If you do not see a message button for a profile that follows your own, that means they have disabled the messaging feature in their profile settings.

Thank you Tamara for the info.

This sort of reminds me of FB in some ways, Haha! The "like" feature. Plus there is a function to "share" it to FB, Twitter and Google. As far as the "Exchange list" I was going to do some updating on mine today. Glad I didn't do that yesterday :) I did see somewhere that the "Exchange lists" will be entered in later - not a 100% sure, but we'll see.

Ok fellows. look on the bright side.

This new version has some good and useful features:

--- More than one picture per post.

--- Activity tracking : It shows where and what have been doing.

--- Messaging: This is a good one. You can leave message to anyone right here rather than by email.

Hi bragu -- Clippings are now called Bookmarks and you can find them in your profile.

Where I used to have about a dozen clippings (give or take a few), I've now only got one bookmark. The majority of my clippings were private and apparently are gone now. So that transition didn't go too well.

    Hi Rodney,

The clippings aren't gone, but we are working on a way to get them back to you. Stay tuned!

Ugggg. I'm not amused. Seriously, I'm REALLY NOT amused.

Anyone figure out how to edit old posts.

On the bright side, the annoying pop-up ads and super-annoying mouse over ads are gone. The new features look useful, as is the multiple photo option. Probably won't be long until we get used to the new look.

Looks like there isn't a way ottawapepper. Too bad too. My Favorite Websites Links post got chopped off midway. Hope it fills out again...

Well, I guess this change was the smack up side the head I needed to remind me not to post my photos directly on web sites... you effectively loose control over your own property. Yes, I know once something is on the Web you can never fully take it back BUT you should be able to mitigate by removing it from a site you posted it to if you choose.

Thank you GardenWeb for reminding me not to trust 3rd parties with my photos. I'm off to Flickr & Photobucket now to migrate and host my photos on a privately controlled site owned by a friend.

You can always put water mark, copyright notice on your pictures. That is the only way to protect them. JIMO

Well not liking it so far, had to confirm twice just to get in, the links to already read posts is gone, have not tried photos yet. Will give it a chance, but if my friends leave, that's all of you please let me know and I am with you all.
