Well, as I'm newly returned to orchids (after a five or eight year sabatical), and just reaccquired four new species...I have a question or comment, wanting other's opinions.

One of my new accquisitions was a D laevifolium probably within a year of flowering, (per growers estimation). It's a two back bulb chain, followed by a split of two active leads. Each of those leads now has a very small new pseudobulb emerging.

I've had the plants only about a month now, but in that time (well actually in the last week), the new growth has become visibile. Point of fact, I only saw one new growth yesterday, but today one on the other lead bulb is evident. They're growing VERY fast, I could hardly tell yesterday that the first one wasn't a rootlet emerging, today they're both clearly new pseudobulbs. Is this typical of this species, extremely rapid growth when it DOES grow ?

I ask because, I don't know...and I'm excited. Lol. I hope the plant doesn't blister from all the attention I've directed at watching it.
