I think it will be ok. Not real happy that the forums are somewhat hidden behind all the rest of Houzz stuff. Should be obvious on the home screen that there is a Forum. apparently you have to follow someone to be able to email them. Maybe a private message system would be better.

I do like that you can easily find old topics that you started. Still doesnt appear that you can find your old posts within a topic, At least not very far back.

New unanswered topics need to stay pinned at the top since a lot will go unnoticed. Usually most questions just needed the right person to come by.

The preview function on GW was nice when you are posting pictures and want to make sure it formatted correctly.

Oh and How do you Say Houzz, is it "whose" "How you see" whoease" "Hows" fancy way of spelling House. Im confused??

It took me ages to get here, but now I can move around a little better. Fortunately I have a bookmark bar on my computer where I can put a few links. I hope this will work well, and others will be able to get back.

Now that I can finally get in, I'm a little more relaxed about it. Still kind of feeling my way around. The old format was way more difficult to move around in than any of the other forums I'm active in.

I'm still trying to recover my GardenWeb account and screen name...ugh..I am not to fond of change...lol

I'm still worried (about the vitality of it)...but only time will tell.

I don't know what it looks like on your screen, but on my monitors, I can just barely see where the blocks are. I don't mind grey's, but blocks are next to impossible to see. On my first message, I almost missed the "Subj" block. I didn't have trouble signing in at all, and the link in my bookmark bar worked, but I'm still not liking it much.

Yeah. I'm getting cool with it. Their quick response to my and others complaints helped. They quickly changed some minor things before I even knew to complain about them. It just helps knowing they're attentive. Now, I feel sorry for them.

My biggest complaint was: I never liked Houzz. I've read others compare the old GW to the Houzz format as jumping from "visiting with the neighbors" to "meeting a the mall".

That was my fear. I think Houzz is listening. Hope it stays that way! Because GW has been so awesome, it's one of the top search engine returns for .... just about any advice listed in its forums. I don't blame them for buying.

Well, so far I think it stinks.

I did however get more tilling done today, and will do more after I rest a bit.

I'm fairly computer literate - and I still am NOT a fan. I too was tired of them blowing up my e-mail box but I too got that fixed. The clippings gone and no ability to e-mail someone are BIG negatives for me. Not only that, when I confirmed from my work computer - I had issues signing on from my home computer. Crazy thing - I found a way around that from all the blow-ups in my e-mail box.

But like Dawn - if you all are here then I'll find a way to feel "at home". And yes, Moni - the Spring Fling is going to be more of a challenge (than it is already!). Thanks to scottcalv - I just might get my mo-jo back by the end of February and not only have a garden - but host the Fling....again. =)

There do seem to be some new features. As long as the community is still here and, as has been mentioned, new people can find the forums without too much digging, I think it'll work out alright. I like being able to come back and edit a post.

With time I think I'll dig up my illustrations and start the hand pollination of squash thread over again. That way it'll be right here.

P Mac, I think they have private messaging, so that should help get email addys without having to publish them.

Well, heck, we have "inboxes". What's the point if we can't send messages??? :P

We can do e-mail messages, but I don't think I know enough about how to do it yet that I can explain it. My understanding is that if two people both are following each other on GW, then they can message one another via email. Now, don't ask me what button you click on to follow someone....but I am sure there is one. So, if that is what it takes to email here, and if they don't change it, we all will have to "follow" (whatever the heck that means) one another in order to email. I am sure those of you who use social media are more familiar with following than I am since I don't do FB or anything like it.

it would be much better it they would get rid of grey/green/blue fonts that seem to be the new wave on websites. I can't read them. I tried changing them on my internet explorer but then when you over ride the colors you end up with no colors on websites and many buttons missing. so there you are. if this keeps up I may just give up having a computer.

I find the format harder to read, too, but I love clicking on the most recent comment and not having to scroll through 100 previous comments. I can tell if I've read the thread. I like the "like" button, though I haven't figured out how or if you can tell WHO liked a comment. It may be in an email I turned off. And it is way better than loosing the forums all together.
