Spinach harvest

last modified: 11 years ago

Testing out these new forums, but I thought I would share our my spinach harvest yesterday. BEFORE: This is a variety called Carmel from Johnnys. This variety is AMAZING! I picked this 2 weeks ago and this is the regrowth. In the last two weeks we have had temperature swings from 0 degrees to 72.7 degrees. The average for this time period was 32.6 degrees. The after picture is below of how tight I have been picking it. Some of this this bed is on its 4th and 5th picking since November. I trialed this variety with Emperor and Tyee. I have yet to pick any sizeable harvest from the bed of Tyee. The Emperor bed has been picked twice. If you are looking for an outstanding winter variety, try Carmel.
