I forgot to add the photo..

I just looked up how old this seedling is and the seeds were from June 2012 so that would make this 2 years 8 months until first bloom. I guess I shouldn't get too excited until I see what it looks like!! I have a few others from this cross that are a bit larger but no sign of any scapes yet. I guess scape watch is more exciting when it's one of your own crosses, which this is!!

Thanks to you all!! This is certainly the exception and not the rule for my seedlings, I have dozens all over the house that are 1 to 2 years older with nary a scape on any. This one is a pleasant aberration! But of course, we don't yet know what she will look like, and with the size of the bulb I'm sure there will only be two flowers, we shall see!! ☺☺

Hi Everyone,

Well, I finally have my flowers!! She is certainly not a prize winner but she's better than I thought and there is no need for a paternity test, she takes after her father! If she had 4 flowers which I'm hoping for next time I will be pleased. There are 7 more seedling bulbs of this cross, 5 of which have some size to them so, hopefully next year I will be able to compare.

Results are expected. Signs of the average between the parents. As usual in such crosses .. We hope to increase the number of buds.

Thank you Dave, Jody and Louana for your positive comments and I agree with Oleg that we need 4 flowers! The flowers becomes more curvaceous the longer she's out and after all, this was from a very small bulb so there is hope for improvement next time!

The background of the flower is very green and after starving for some results from some of my crosses this will help in the waiting game.

It's a first bloomer. It might improve it's flower count next season.

I am obviously very late but Donna, this is beautiful! Sorry to bump and old thread, but I couldn't resist.

Thank you Josh. I too was quite smitten with this flower. The bulb hasn't done too well this year but is still with me. I think it is one that lost it roots and was nearly overcome by my mealybug infestation but I now have it sitting in warm perlite and am hopeful that it will grow new roots and live to bloom again. I have found that some of my Komoriya bulbs that refused to root did finally root in the warm moist perlite. I do have several more seedlings from this cross but they are slow to grow. Sadly my 0016 did not make it, it died from it's gaping wounds from the NBF so I am doubly happy to have this and the other seedlings. Sadly, NO. 0016 can't be replaced.

Tomorrow I will look for this bulb and see how it looks. Thanks for bumping this thread up so I could look at it again!!☺☺☺

Ray, Anything that is as rare as #-0016, you keep for yourself! You never know when disaster will strike your mother bulb so make sure you have lots of babies before you think about giving one away, especially to me!!

I just checked on my bulb of #0016 x Exotic Star and it is resting comfortably in its warm perlite and there is one root 1" long with the nubbins of several others. This bulb is safe. I have about 6 more from this cross, so maybe I'll get lucky again some time!!☺☺

Sorry to hear about your troubles with the NBF. If it was the larger variety of the insect, apparently the bulb can sometimes be salvaged. They supposedly intentionally leave part of the basal plate intact quite often so it forms bulblets for next year's babies.
