Mixing sinks

We are installing a cast iron apron sink in our kitchen. Also, we planned a prep sink which will be placed to the far left of the photo (in the corner)- to the right of the fridge).

I was wondering if we can mix and match such that the apron sink is cast iron and the prep sink is under-cabinet mounted stainless steel. It would save some money if we did stainless steel (instead of cast iron). All of our appliances are stainless steel also.

Any advice would be much appreciated!

Under cabinet is lighting. The under mount sink in stainless is very nice and you can mix without concern.

    Have fun and best wishes.

Thank you all for your advice. I may do two stainless but wanted to know my options.

As for the reason for its placement, I wanted to have another small sink for convenience and to have two areas in which my family could work. I liked that location since it is closer to the fridge and can be used for veggie prep, etc. It is also convenient to the cooktop and makes use of a corner that would otherwise be lost space. I attached another picture that gives a better idea of where it will be placed.

    Thanks again!

I just installed two cast iron sinks, one main and one prep and love the look and function. I also love having the prep station in the island and would not find it useful in the corner. That seems too far away for coordinating activities and accessing the dishwasher. It does look like a great spot to tuck away a countertop appliance that you might not want in full view. Whatever you do, add garbage disposals, soap dispenses and pullout faucets for both sinks.

Since all of your appliances are stainless steel, I'd stick with all stainless steels sinks also. I'm concerned about the corner sink. The cabinets look like they come down pretty far. Will they be high enough that they won't be getting in the way when you're working at that sink? Could you move that sink to the island, and have it mounted on the refrigerator side?? Maybe put a microwave oven on the countertop, in that corner?

I think a stainless prep sink will be fine, given it's next to a stainless fridge and also far from the other sink. I like the location as well, as it's far from the hub and will allow others to use/help and not be in the way. It may be a good idea to build in a pull out in cupboard below for food recycling. I don't really like a sink in an island, so that it remains fully functional for gatherings, etc.

Thank you for all of your comments. I I actually selected the location so that it is far away from other stations. I wanted to have enough room for everyone to be doing their own thing. I thought about having it on the island but decided against it as I have children and didn't want to interrupt the island which would be used for homework and other things in the future.

That is a good idea to check that the cabinets don't go too far to crowd out the sink. I will be sure to look into this. Thank you again for all the suggestions.
