Lucky you with that lake! How about an arbor/pergola that runs across the width of the garage and becomes a roofed entryway? It could be peaked, or shed-style, depending upon the other rooflines. You might have to break through a bit of concrete for the supports. Laying some brick over the concrete, if it is in decent condition, could define the walkway.

Can you stand back and show the whole house/roof?

The entry door is all wrong, you need a "wow" door with glass. The way the roof of the house ends in the middle of the top of door is all wrong too. I would cut back the overhang and put in an arbor or pergola as well. Currently, the entry looks like an extension of the driveway. Cut back the concrete and put in brick or a terra cotta tile for some personality.
