We could also replace the kitchen table with something higher and use the stools at either the table or the bars on either side I suppose based on whether we are eating at dining table or entertaining at bars. . .

This is the only dining area, it's connected to the kitchen and living room on either side through the columns with the bar counter top on them (under the pendent lamps). That dining set is not the one we will have in there, ours is cherry, with no upholstery. Given that, what color stools do you think we should look for? White? Black? Cream?

If you want the stools to tuck under and "disappear" make them the same as your wall color. Do you want a backless stool...that seems to be the only option to tuck all the way under the counters.

I love those curved counters. Go to shop on Houzz & get some ideas for what you want. If it is modern you may want to go w/ones that have a low curvy back & that are adjustable & that swivel. Make sure you get the correct height. Is that a counter height or a bar height? If they are adjustable that may not matter. Round chrome bases would be good.

If you want stools at both curved counters, consider using benches on the sides of your table and 2 large upholstered chairs at either end. Lots of seating, in all directions and not all chairs.

That's a good thought, that would prevent the room from having 10-14 chairs in it.

So I gather the photo is of the previous owner's furniture. You should re-post once your furniture is in. That could make a big difference in what is suggested for stools. Is there actually a curve in the ceiling, or is that a result of pano MLS pix?
