Ok, so I have probalby already managed to kill a small Viresa I got a few weeks ago. it is in a small 4" plastic pot full of what looks like orchid mix, that fits neatly in the top half of a clay pot. Because it's so small I've had to water regularly to keep it from drying out. However it is on my desk at work (filtered sunlight light through the blinds and I have a bright desk lamp that is on through the day) I have a Pothos that went nuts there for a while before I took it home so I felt there was plenty of light.

When I got it, it has several leaves that are between 6 and 8" long and a healthy green with purplish stripes on the underside. No real 'cup' in the middle, instead it had a spike of tight purple leaves that were slowly opening out and turning green.

Monday morning, when I got in, the center leaves were dry and brittle feeling, brown on the tips but still purplish. the rest of the plant was a little limp. Before I left on Friday I made sure to water it (with tepid RO water) and leave water standing in the 'cup' around the base of the center leaves. I think it may have dried out over the weekend.

I watered it again, and saturated the clay pot too, even though it can't absorb any water from the clay pot. the outside leaves perked back up and look healthy, but the center leaves, feel less dry and brittle, but are still tightly rolled.

I guess my problem is twofold.

1.can it likely be nursed back to health? If yes then

2. Sugestions on preventing this from happening again over the weekend and other care advice?

and I need to figure out another way to keep it damp over the weekends.
