Second, no, don't begin pruning. I can't imagine a 6 month old tree ready for final potting.

Let it get taller (you can cut it back later on) so the trunk develops into something besides a stick, and branching gives you more options for styling, and you eventually (years) realize what the right final pot might look like. If you're too impatient, maybe you don't want bonsai, or else buy a ready made one (for lots of money).

You will need to let it grow larger to get a tree trunk on the plant. You can find a great deal of help from members of the forum bonsai nut. Google bonsainut and you will find the forum.
