Help Feedback with kitchen layout

Hi there. Can you give me an idea of how my kitchen layout looks? Thanks!

Can you post a floor plan with dimensions? And show how the kitchen relates to the other rooms in the house.

Yes, post a floor plan as annkh-nd suggests. Based on what I can see, it looks like the cooktop & sink are bunched together - you've got plenty of counter on either side of the two, but not much in between, which (I've learned on this forum) is the most efficient space to use for prep.

House is a 1962 brick ranch. 2400 sqft. Sun room to the South, Living room to the North and laundry to the East. The sink looks out on to the screened-in porch. Vinyl down now, making it all red oak. Moved the hot wall from East wall to South Wall. Moved frig from South to North. Old kitchen stopped at bump in North Wall. So really making it a bigger space with more counters (Cambria - Torquay) and the bar. Going gray cabs (kitchen craft: thunder) with hardwood floors and SS GE cafe appliances. Going to have a convection microwave atop a single wall oven to right of frig. Have an odd space to right of oven. Bedrooms due west. Might put a table and bench seating in far South West corner since we are loosing our old table. Changed from electric to gas cooktop. Thanks for your input and non-snarkiness. :)

Agree with Carrie about too little prep space b/w the sink and the range. Can you have something like this?

Even if you cannot move the window, you'll be able to prep in front of the window, which is a good thing imo, since prep usually takes much more time than cleanup.

I'm not sure you'l have enough room for 5 seats.

On the north wall, I'd move the oven/micro cab next to the shallow cabs, as I think you now have the fridge on that side.

I agree that having a bit more space between sink and range would be ideal. You could push the sink or range one way or the other . . . or go with the idea of moving the range to that other wall. . . Ideally, it is nice if there is a "secondary prep area" on the OTHER side of the sink , too, so it is at least possible that two people can access the sink.

If you can't readily nudge the sink (along with its window, presumably), down 18-24 inches away from the cooktop, then consider nudging the cooktop towards your seating area. Of course, you aren't going to be RIGHT by the seating, but you could probably come pretty close -- maybe just a 15-18" cabinet between the cooktop and the corner cabinet/seating area? I know that'd goof up your symmetry around the cooktop (and I do love symmetry), but you can probably still do some bit of symmetry -- same size 15-18" uppers flanking the hood, then a wider upper/lower on over towards the sink . . . the the trash pull out . . . It could give you enough cabinet space in that prep area to do something interesting there maybe.

Also, I can't totally make out the dimensions on the image, but if that's an L shaped eating counter that is 5 ft on one side and 3 ft on the other (as I am guessing based on the corner lazy susan at 3 ft each way) . . . then I think you'd be able to get just three comfortable seats there -- two on the 5 ft side and one on the 3 ft side. I have 5'6" at an island seating area (with no corner encroachment), and it really does only seat 2. You could squeeze three little kids in there, but no adult would be comfortable.) Seating for 3 would be comfortable and nice, though.
