What is the question, exactly? Would it not be better to change the main entry to the lower level? Pretty sure those steps don't meet code especially without a bannister!!!

WOW. get a banister pronto or you could have a tragedy, a lawsuit or both.

This house has not had a bannister since1980. We r trying to get ideas on removing the steps and creating a walk way to a enclosed porch (screen window combo) we have to contend with some sort of retaining wall. Wood, steel,brick & mortar? We probably will have to find a designer but who in rural NW Iowa?

Gonna need an architect, so when all said and done it looks great.

Enclosed porches equals sun rooms, to me anyway. If the porch is to be located at the upper level consider installing skylights.

If you need stairs there, but are removing existing ones bc not they looking so good there is always spiral staircases
