My builder uses Houzz Pro to plan the timeline and give detailed estimates and daily updates with photos of progress, and provide invoices at pre-agreed key points in the build. This made the whole experience much more efficient and stress-free.
The local chapter of the Rhododendron Society is doing a presentation on Vireyas (tropical rhododendrons) at the Hilo Library this Saturday, Feb 21, 2015.
There will be a display, people to talk to and free cuttings. 9am to 12 noon
This was a lot of fun. We had a beautiful display, gave away hundreds of cuttings and potted plants, and demonstrated propagation and transplanting techniques.
We plan to do this again, maybe in September.
If you're interested, reply to this thread, and I'll know it's worthwhile posting here again.
Advance notice: we're planning a truss and plant giveaway at the Pana'ewa Zoo October 18, 2015. There are lots of vireya at the zoo, and the beautiful new vireya bench (it looks like giant flowers) should be installed by then.
Last year's Zoo giveaway got cancelled because of a hurricane, hope we have better weather this year!
