This is very formal. Way too over-the-top for my taste. You can find something better that doesn't need customizing. Google "curved sofa".

I think it could look good. Are you going to keep the area a conversation area? That's what it looks like to me - a place for guests to gather and talk as opposed to a casual area for the family.

I am reminded in the USA there was a time when we had "conversation pits" and this is what your room reminds me of.

If everyone is sitting on the same sofa, curved or not, it makes conversation a bit difficult. I would keep the set up as you have now (which I believe sits 6), but use two large sofas on either side that can fit 4 people, plus two single chairs at the window (more comfortable than a love seat). Add two small ottomans at other end and this may accommodate 10-12. Look for furniture that doesn't feel bulky - maybe low backs, narrow arms, etc.

We had two velvet couches in our living room for over 25 years and were so pleased regarding their wearability that we recently purchased two more for our den. All velvets are not the same and quality of the fabric plus purchasing from a good compnay will make a big difference.

I think that over-the-top sofa in a U-shape that fills the room will feel confining and cumbersome, will never allow you to clean behind it, and will become tiresome quickly. It will be the ultimate in matchy-matchy. Your current furniture is too matchy for my tastes, but at least it's different pieces for some variety, and allows those seated to have a bit of privacy.

For the cost of custom making the sofa, hire a professional designer to give you a better room with the same feel.
