Agreed. And put what it is about in the subject line, that helps find it later.

I used to try pretty hard to keep threads on one topic so we could find them by surfing the subject lines, but it is hard. We meander around a lot here. : )

Back in the olden times when Spike preferred we stay on topic (or else) , we referred to that meandering from one topic to another as "hijacking a thread". When someone hijacked a thread by bringing up a different topic, we'd routinely say "let's go start a new thread on this topic instead of hijacking this one". I guess we need to work harder to do that again.

I hope it didn't sound like I was griping . I actually don't mind people drifting off on other subjects . Just remember that it may be hard to remember what thread it was in if you're trying to keep up with it.

I still like the other site as far a posting pictures. No way to post a picture unless you download it off the computer as far as I can tell. Won't let me pull one off photo bucket except by link.

I didn't think you were complaining. I thought you were just giving us a timely reminder that we need to stick to the topic at hand, as mentioned in the subject line, if we want to be able to retrieve that specific thread later via a search. That doesn't mean we can't drift away and meander.....we just won't be able to find our meanderings with a search. Long ago we had a pretty funny thread about armadillos that meandered quite a bit. I don't know that we could find it again but it is a thread I wish I'd saved just for all the humor.

It is my understanding that you can post a picture from your computer directly to a thread, but I don't have any photos on my computer, so I haven't tried it. I'll link the "how to post" thread that mentions uploading a photo from one's computer. I don't know if it contains any info you'll find helpful.

I had read that but most of my photos I take with my phone, then upload to photobucket. I can only share via a link, unlike the old gardenweb site I could show it in the thread without a link. 8-(

You can put them on your computer from photobucket! Just right click on the picture, and then decide, on where you want to save it. :) Then, you can post it here (if you remember where you saved it).
