I was definitely thinking turquoise or a Tiffany blue. And I know my boring frames don't help the space, just don't know what colors to paint them. Also, the hubs doesn't like the gallery wall look (although I do). Are there any other colors that would compliment the dark brown and turquoise/Tiffany blue?

dont paint the frames, that set of pictures would look lovely some place else. if you are serious about lightening things up, large clear colorful art will help your cause better than small pictures with white frames.

in fact, your small pictures could be a really nice group further back in the corner, where people can walk right up to them and look at them. over-the-sofa art needs to be appreciated more from a distance.

Your couches look SUPER comfy and your striped throw pillows look similar to ones we have on our brown leather couches.

To add color, you could add or change your pillows (we have 4 pillows on each couch - larger rust ones behind patterned pillows which really breaks up the brown of the couches). You could also add a color with an area rug and artwork; possibly even a colorful large, tall floor vase on the side of your TV (not the side next to the wall corner, the side where the dog is) - they have a lot of nice, reasonable, and colorful floor vases at Pier 1. If you were open to it, you could replace your leather ottoman with a fabric one and even replace your lamps with larger (bulky) table lamps. Regardless of whether you change out your ottoman, you could place a tray on it with a colorful vase or candles. You could use the tray for your remote controls too =)

Your artwork/pictures are out of balance with your couches. Consider displaying them on a larger "art shelf" or putting up a large sofa size painting. Add a decorative mirror too! Add some color with an area rug that bring in some color as well.

Thanks for all the ideas! And yea I know, my silly pictures were hung and then we moved the couch farther away from the tv and said screw it to moving the pictures again haha! I'll start shopping around for larger, more colorful over the couch artwork/frames. Anyone have any suggestions for what I should do to fill up the area behind my love seat? Right now it houses some of my daughters toys. I'll definitely have to move the pictures over in that space, but any other suggestions will definitely help!! Thanks!!

Hi Hollymay, if you like turquoise or teal, try chartreuse or coral as a 2nd accent color. With "Tiffany Blue", a rich coral looks great too. See examples below.

My suggestions:
1. Move the gallery photos to another, smaller wall area...and make sure they are at eye height. if you can, re-mat them in larger mats/frames. That will give them a bit more "substance".
2. If you can find another spot for the ottoman, do so...even as an occasional seat. It is just too heavy with all the matchy furniture. Find a glass top coffee table...maybe in a silver or brass metal. That will help lighten up the space.
3. Some LARGE colorful art over the sofa. Even plainly framed art posters will do as inexpensive pops of color and interest. Find some that have TINY BITS of your favorite accent colors (turquoise blue?). And I'm thinking that a yellow-green....like the color of an almost ripe pear... Would be a good match with your blue and will also warm up the brown of the furniture. That pear and an apricot color will also do nicely m

I like the Tiffany Blue / turquoise idea for accents. How about a bookcase cubby with bins for behind the love seat for toys? With the gallery wall above it. That would be something that you could take with you to your new space.

And a nice tall plant in a big basket in the empty corner by the patio doors.

I saw on your previous thread that you are on a tight budget. If you or someone you know can sew you can make your own pillows. Am attaching pix of fabrics on sale at Joann Fabrics. The tow pillows are from Walmart and are well under $20.

Good job with your space planning thus far. Consider the following:

- consider a new tv console, something larger and is to scale with the other furniture selections in the room.

- Add a rug with coordinating drapery and pillows. You can tackle this item list at any Target, world market or home goods if your on a budget. They will absolutely have coordinating textiles.

- because your sofas are a dark brown you could really go in any color direction that you desire (considering warms tones and cool tones). My personal opinion with the amount of light coming into the space would be to lean towards warmer hues (reds, oranges.etc)

- Remove wall art above tv and add it to collage above larger sofa.

- Make sure artwork is hung at average eye level and centered on the sofa. Also when positioning smaller frames create a smaller gap between each frame (bring everything closer in together to create one large visual.

- If you want to play with staging a floor lamp and table lamp as your doing be sure that they're coordinate with each other

FYI: you can paint in a rental just notify your renters office to be sure they can/will provide you the original paint in order to paint it back.

I agree with the first comment, invest in some large pieces like mirror, art and maybe a large over-hang floor lamp and maybe a sofa table with 2 lamps and figures. As far as pillows on the sofa I would use furry accent throw pillows. Pier One is a great place to start.
