Low Counter

What is the purpose of the low counter? At only 5'1", I've often thought while chopping veggies how much easier it might be if my counter were lower. But afraid to do it. Thanks!

The lower counter was designed for a client the same height as you. She wanted it lower so it is easier for baking and chopping!

It could have been the baking area where you could roll out pastry easier. I originally was going to have a pastry area in my kitchen but thought about the resale issues and decided it would be better on a cart rather than a permanent item. A tall person would find the low counters a deal breaker. It depends on how long you will have the house if it is a good idea.
