Ixora odorata

Hello, does anyone have this on the mainland U.S.A.? I found it in Hawaii, but I can't get it shipped. I'm getting obsessed trying to get one!

Thanks.

Donna

It seems that they are sold out.
They have it here but I think it's a whole sale business.

You can try contacting here & here. Maybe they'll reserve one for you.

    Good Luck!

Thanks. I had tried all of the above. I went on PlantAnt to try to find it, and none of them have it anymore. Two of the places in Florida said that it is susceptible to the native nematodes, and it needs acid soil; something they don't have in South Florida, and they die quickly there. I may have a lead in Hawaii if I can convince them to root it in soiless mix. It is very tough to get plants shipped that are growing in soil.

Hah! I'll need it. I'm giving myself a 50/50 chance of getting one.

I'll see if I can talk to a local grower..No promises that I can get a plant though!!

Wow! Thanks! The chloranthus that I have are happy and blooming in my greenhouse. They seem to like it shadier.

I found out that Ixora odorata and fragrans is not the same.. Ixora fragrans I am being informed has more fragrance.. What is the botanical name? Is it I. finlaysoniana?

The odorata has a prettier flower and nicer fragrance than fragrans. I have an Ixora fragrans, and it is a smaller plant all around. Odorata flowers have very long tubes, 3 or 4" long. Finlaysoniana is yet another species that has a fragrance, but I am told not a very pleasant one. Ixora odorata is a species and it's used for foundation plantings in Hawaii. It has a great smell. Between jasmine and plumeria. You don't have to go looking for the scent. It carries well. The Downside is it is susceptible to nematodes, is not drought tolerant, and needs acid soil. I think that's why I can't find any in Florida.

    Thanks so much.

According to this site, Ixora finlaysoniana (end of the page) is native to Thailand, rare and hauntingly fragrant, while Ixora odorata is native to Madagascar and hard to find in South Florida.....

I just saw plants that are 4-5 feet tall that I am told are I. fragrans .. They have chlorosis.. They are in pots and have difficult time if not in acidic medium.. So there are 3 white Ixoras as I understand now..
