Awsome! I love spotted Catts. I have some smaller one but they are taking their sweet time blooming. Was the one from the society meeting fragrant?

HI Darlene, sorry for the delay in replying. Did some scratching around and found that this orchid is now called Cattleya tigrina. Meetings are held at night so I cannot say if it had a day perfume or not. Closely related to Cattleya guttata which have children that are perfumed by day. Just went down the yard and sniffed one. Delightful.

I think a lot of the spotted breeding traces back to Cattleya aclandiae which is very compact and if I can get it to flower next spring it will be a triumph. Has to be grown mounted.

All the "spottees" I have flowered have been perfumed and I have found that they mature fairly quickly, are easy to grow and some flower several time a year.

The daytime only fragrance makes sense. I have a couple of spottees but I have yet to get a single flower out of them. I have C. Brabantiae that should be blooming size. Maybe this will be the year. more recently i ordered C. Comet's Tail and C. Mareeba Tiger. Neither of those are really blooming sized yet. I am really looking forward to them blooming. Good luck with your aclandiae. I had one that I attempted to mount before the root growth were out. After that it never thrived for me. Yet someone in my society grows hers in a window with very little effort. I think your experience is more like hers.
