I have always taken evergreen cuttings while they are in full growth in summer - August is my optimum month for these. I do not use heat or lighting, just place cuttings in seed trays with lid....but I guess much depends on your climate/location. Doing it now means you have nothing to lose - if they do not strike, you can try again later in the season.

Ditto what Campanula said. I only recently learned this and now have almost 100% success striking cuttings of all my evergreens. Have been trying for years to propagate my Burford holly, I now have a dozen cuttings growing out in pots. Also learned the same works for citrus.....got lots of starts from my brother's orange and lemon trees. :)
