Our show in Martin County Florida is next weekend. I'll look for trends and have thoughts...

So I went to a show a week ago and as usually lots of catts phals but to my delight I got a dendrobium aggregatum and a Anselia Africana,now I have been to show over the years but it's a first I am seeing these two so I took the opportunity to get one of each. Also a Opstistylis Suree. Came home very pleased with my find. Now let's hope I can bloom the aggregatum I live in a tropical climate so wish me luck.Velleta

Do you grow any of the species that are natural to Jamaica?

Greencurls, placed in the fridge wow. Nice suggestion but I am afraid my kids might eat it. Seriously though I think I will ask a very close friend of mine how to deal with it, compared to me he's a guru with orchids, I don't know if he has a plant so I will talk to him and see. And to be honest I could do the fridge thing. My poodle has me up at 5:00AM every morning so I would just take it out before I take him out. And place it in before I go to bed. Shavedmonkey, yes a few. Broughtonia, brassia, brassavola, mosquito orchid (struggling) and tolumnia. They are not readily available, even at shows you might get a few bear root ones ( that's where I got the Brassia recently). I would send you a pic of my broughtonia it has one flower left on the VERY long spike, but I can't seem to figure out how to load the pic on this site as yet. VELLETA

which brassavola do you have? I like brassavola and many of the hybrids. Besides some nice attributes , they are easy to grow. They can take over.

Our show is being offered this weekend. The big difference this year is what appears to be record breaking attendance and spending. All the vendors are very happy. I added a few to my collection and bought a birthday orchid for mom that I will get back after the bloom.

It is good to hear the turn out was so nice. Hopefully it is an indicator of people's interest in orchids over all. Now the big question. .. what did you get?
