I agree with the above, except possibly that your should have art over the night tables rather than over the bed. I just think the art over the bed is the wrong shape.

I want to add, please use a pattern to recover the bench -- black and white, or grey and white, or black and grey and white. Echo the pillows.

Here's what I mean about the shape of the art -- I think tall lamps would balance it and stop the wall looking bare on each side. You'll notice I've artfully cropped off your bench. That's because I couldn't put a patterned fabric on it that looked in the least convincing. :-)

I love the idea of hanging lamps over the night stands I think that would fill in the empty space nicely and allow me to keep the art work where it is. I love the painting and there are no other walls in the room I could move it to. Could you post a picture of some hanging lamps you think would compliment? I could add a mirror or other artwork to the left of the window. I have been looking for a pink throw (the roman shades are actually pink, not red...maybe they are looking red on different monitors) but very frustratingly it is a very difficult shade of pink to match.

Much bigger lamps. Bigger nightstand on the left side. Remove picture over the bed--it doesn't work there--so busy with all the pillows.

Your roman shades are great. Maybe something else to tie them in besides just the one pillow.

The first photo I posted was taken in panoramic. I think it made the night stand on the right and the lamp look smaller than they actually are. I agree the night stand on the left is small. But there is a closet door to the left that opens towards the bed. It JUST clears the night stand that is there now. If I go any bigger the door would hit it when open. Should I still replace it?

is there another wall for the bed. under the window maybe? would you be open to change it?

Under the window would be the only other wall for the bed which feels like it wouldn't work with the headboard....what do you think?

I think I would remove the nightstand on the left and move bed into the centre of the wall, then place the bench seat under the window and fill with pillows and you wouldn't have to reupholster it. Instead of a new bed, what about painting it black? The art feels too high over the bed (almost touching the ceiling) and try it on another wall, as it's lovely. Over the bed add a black starburst mirror. Not sure what you have as a fixture in the ceiling, but a large black and brass chandelier would be lovely. By doing this, you will have created a whole look/feel that is just a bit more unusual. Good luck.

I would recover the bench. I like the idea of moving the picture because it doesn't look right over the bed. I don't know if it is the height at which it's hung or the size of it. What is on the opposite wall that you can't hang the picture there or move the bed? I love the bed btw and DON'T think you should paint it black. What about painting the walls? Your lamps and tables measured together should be somewhere between 58-64" above the floor. Keep the bed, move the bench under the window. Add a rug under the bed that picks up on your fuschia.

gxc - There is a lot of good advice on this thread, and I will be repeating some of it because I believe if you make these changes you will get the "finished look" that you're after.

Picture over the bed is too high and makes the eye focus on it and not your room. (Group of three smaller pictures, or a grouping of three mirrors would look fabulous over the bed).

Bedside lamp is too small - you need a taller, slimmer lamp to be as high as the bed poster.

Bedside tables are too small - if you don't have the room, get one larger table for the space by the window, center bed on wall, (no table on closet side).

You need to introduce more hot pink into the room (cushion, throw).

If you like a bit of whimsy, paint the legs of your bench in hot pink to match the shades.

Below are pics for inspiration: (NOTE: Pic 4 was posted first by mistake).

Pic 1 - Group of three mirrors for over the bed (hang approx. 8# above bed frame.

Pic 2 - Taller table lamp with black shade (black shade will add some weight to anchor that side of room and tie in with your blk & wht pillows. (A little drama is never lost in a bedroom).

Pic 3 - Floor lamp for side of bed nearest the closet. (You can now hang the picture you have over the bed on this side of the wall). (Again, this will anchor and balance both sides of bed. Will also fill in empty space without hindering closet door. (Lamp shades s/b same style on both lamps).

Pic 4 - Hot Pink throw - choose a throw that has several pink tones and other colors in it so you don't have to worry about a perfect match. Also adds texture to foot of bed.

Pic 5 - Hot pink lumbar pillow - choose a different shape other than square to mix things up. Pillow has different shades of pink stripes so it will match blinds.

Pic 6 - Hot Pink spray for bench legs.

You have a semi-glam type bed room. It would look fabulous with larger mirrored night stands. It would look great over the bed to have a very large horizontal mirror. You need texture in this room...maybe a sheepskin pillow or two for the bed and/or the ottoman at the foot. The blind is not working for you in this room. You either need more of that colour in a bigger block....say a throw over the end of the bed, or change the blinds to white faux wood blinds with a velvety/silk fabric in the ottoman colour, or white sheers. The ottoman looks to be a different colour shade than the wall. It should be the same shade, just the same or different depth of that colour , a darker or lighter or exact version of the wall colour, not a different colour... I also noticed that the warm(yellow toned) rug and cool(blue toned) everything else are sort of competing with each other. I would consider a large area rug in colours that coordinate with the bed and ottoman and paint.... to hide the warm wall to wall carpet that is currently there.There are too many kinds of fabrics on the cushions on the bed to have a nice flow. It would look better to have fewer, yet larger, less patterned cushions in a plain white colour and same colour as ottoman. Just play with texture instead of colour for a glam look. It appears you are trying to use the fushia, but it is looking too placed, not flowing...A large drum shade with crystals chandelier is a must over the bed!!!Hope that helps and best of luck.
