Love the rug...not sure about the artwork. Can you take a shot from farther back in the room? They are 2 really big pieces of art that look very heavy and dominating over the sofa.

I like the rug. Can you flip it so a little bit goes under the couch on the right? Would a pad help with thickness?

This is one of those rooms that, to me, is close-but-not-quite, and that I don't quite know how to fix. The art is too large, but I like the statement it makes, and would like to see it work better in spite of its size. So I played a bit in the room. I love the art, end table, patterned pillows, and rug so I kept all those.

The one thing I'm sure of: I'd remove the vase of sticks. I'd probably replace it with something softer, a big plant to echo the green in the art. I'd probably get a fatter, curvier lamp. And I think I'd like to see a round or oval coffee table with legs and glass to lighten the space and show the rug. A couple of lighter pillows in ecru will lighten and add variety.

I'd also consider lightening and desaturating the wall color just a tad which would pop the furnishings more, but I didn't do that here.

I am with groveraxle here, that ocean of beige needs some help.plus it is hard to tell with the light but it looks the walls and the sofa re fighting. it might be artificial lighting

I like the room with that rug as well. I was unsure about the large art. (There was another poster looking for big art like yours for her two story foyer wall) but once I saw the couch with the lighter pillows and the repainted walls, it seems to make the difference.
I think you have a great room!

P.S. I love the glass top table with metal legs too!

Glass table is an improvement. Switch the paintings seasonally; red one in spring/summer and orange/green one in fall/winter. Keep the rug.

I think it's too small and too flat, it doesn't add ant texture or dimension. If you want to have a "hide" look then bigger and make sure it's a heavier hide with a generous underlay. If your not stuck on this style then a geometric in black and white with good thickness would look nice. Just my 2 cents.

groveraxle...can you photoshop the 2 big pieces of art above the couch, but farther apart, slightly higher, with the lamp slightly in front of the one on the left? Would you mind telling me what program you are using? I'm new to CAD, and I can't find a user friendly one that I can figure out in less than 12 hours!

Hi lacy! Just saw your post. Rug looks great and you can play with the angles. Love groveraxle's greyer walls and glass top coffee table (but it needs to be larger to balance the weight of the sectional). Set/2 art is probably 1+ foot too wide. One art is a bit too narrow, so if you add some substantial wall candle sconces on either side of one art, that would do the trick. Or get new art that has some cool tones along with the warm so you can better balance the warm tones and have some cool toned cushions. Or splash on some silver metallic paint to portions of your existing art to play off the chrome legs of the glass top coffee table. Then add some cushions & accessories featuring some metallic silver in them. This would add some cool tones and some glitz to an otherwise very matt looking room.

I agree with others. The mix of colors is kind of drab. You have a lot of beige/brown, and the red in the art doesn't work well with it. Try to incorporate greens/grays/blues. You can do this with pillows, artwork, the lampshade, or painting the all as Grover shows. Show us what you figure out.
