The microwave is actually hidden in the pantry behind cabinet doors. Worked great, and got it out of eye-sight. No computer or phone connection in this kitchen (house had wireless) but lots of power outlets hidden behind shallow cabinet door next to peninsula - secret cubby for keys, bulletin boad for photos and calendars, docking station for phone chargers, etc.

The runner was from West Elm circa 2011, most likely not available any more but they might have something similar.

I found this photo because I have a similar problem--one small wall for range, with little counter space around the stove. I would like symmetrical 1' cabs/counters on either side with cabinet mounted hood in middle; husband (contractor) says we should have larger cabinet/counter to left of range. Is it functional for your client?

In this project, the counter space on either side of the 30" range was about 9", and it worked. It helped to have the peninsula counter space nearby. Yes, in an ideal world there would be more space on either side of the range, but you can only work with what you have.

The glass tile behind the stove is 3x6" Glacier tile, color C31 by Stone Source. White grout.
