no, your home doesnt need it and as lori says, if they got straggly and unwatered they'd be a big turn off. as it is you have stone, clapboards, batten boards, gable brackets... a home isnt meant to look like a homebuilders catalog where someone checked off "one of each", so no need to check off "window boxes" now.

I agree that planter boxes are very hard to maintain, and even if you are able to water them, the water run off can sometimes stain the house, soil can splash on your windows from rain, and they tend to look gross after a couple of years. I think the house is quite nice. Your plant beds seem to be underdone with colour and height. Consider adding a tree or large shrub with some colour like a Japanese Maple or Purple Leaf Sandcherry to pull your eyes down from the height of the house.

I agree w/all above. And I think I would just add one large urn at the base at the left-hand side of your garage door (to add height, color, interest) -to draw the eye to the path leading to your front door.

I agree...no window boxes...but how about something decorative under that small window? Like those metal red stars come to mind, but I'll see if I can find something else.

Or this....see the little circle at the top of the peak...you could put a fake circle "vent" under that window. I just feel like that spot needs something, since it looks so bare.
