Ok, that really helps me!! I thought that a hutch or credenza might be too much (I thought I could pull the rug closer to the entry way and put one along the back wall).

Then all I need is chairs and window treatments! If you have any ideas in mind I'd love to see them otherwise I am happy to spend time looking for options and getting your opinion before pulling the trigger.

do you have any initial thoughts/ideas?

chairs: I really like fabric chairs but I don't want to pay an arm and a leg. Thinking I'd unfortunately have to do a gray or a accent color (thoughts)?? Or maybe get away from fabric all together? Do like when the 2 head chairs are different than the side chairs, do you think that would work in the space?

window treatments: color?, pattern (will it be too much with rug that is in there) vs. plain? any must look online resources/places I should check out?

Jenn I think a pattern on the window ( shade only) could work IF the pattern is smaller to medium in comparison to the large graphic on the rug. On a curtain, I would keep it simple with a block panel with the grey being on the bottom to contrast against the white wainscoting,and white on the top. LOVE the idea of 2 head chairs, in possibly a warm grey. For the side chairs, I would do white/Cream , with maybe a small warm grey lumbar pillow.

Do you think I could get away with adding a "color" to the room (to get away from all the cream, grey, and black). Thinking I could maybe bring one into the window treatments and then have lumbar pillows in that color on cream chairs? Or completely stick with cream, grey, and black?

I usually recommend 3 colors total. To keep things classic (timeless), you can count the grey and black as 1 color, then the cream, and pick a color that you would like to incorporate:) But remember also, we have navy blue in the informal LR, that counts as color. Does that make sense? To create a cohesive space, the chosen color has to applied in some form of application throughout the space. So what you need to ask yourself is what color do I REALLY want to see?? On the jewel toned art, that you added to our board , this is where you CAN add additional color, and the overall feel of the room stays classic, with an added punch of color. However the backdrop of the design stays consistent (3 Colors), therefore creating a design that you will enjoy for years to come. When there is too much color throughout, the overall design becomes busy, and TRENDY, which is fine, if that is what someone wants, BUT I think you are going for a design that will shine beautifully, as the years pass:)
