We are riding on the back of a dinosaur. This is a good strategy in our situation. But not forever. Here we will do better than the rest for the longest but I think ultimately facebook will survive, here will limp. The reason is the more peppy facebook replies although they sometimes are less in depth than more traditional forums. Secondly, facebook is like Walmart, one stop shopping. I was on GardenWeb for years and once in a blue moon even glanced at any other forums. In a matter on a few moths on facebook I had joined several special topic information groups. The flood of information could drown a fish. Facebook is not my favorite and has multiple mega valid reasons not to participate. However the quality of discussion is not crap presently on the worm board. I have been reading for a while and this Shier guy at "Red Worm Composting" has some way opposite of bad information. If I may quote an 11 hour old post of his: "Ok I have a little request, I notice a lot of posts lately from people with worms climbing around bins or up the walls. I rarely have ever seen true red wigglers climbing about. Please have a look when worms are climbing at those climbers. A very popular worm vendor has serious issues with shipping perionyx Excavatus as red wigglers. They are not the same worm. Red wigglers are often striped with light coloration towards the rear and a clitellum 25 segments from the head. Perionyx are dark red to purple to bright blue with clitellum 13 segments from the head and are far more active." That is not a crap post. That is a high quality post, maybe better than I can read at GardenWeb or Houzz. This is just one sample. There areLOTS of posts by Shier that are way good. In addition, at least one of my favorite posters, posts there and here. It is almost kind of them to post here as I am not sure what we are offering them as far as interesting posts to reply to. At one point I think sbryce said his posts were based on what he had learned reading the experts that posted here in the past. Well I would like to add that any good information or practices I have reported have been based on reading their and sbryce's posts in addition to others. I have certainly enjoyed his posts and followed the advice in them. Some posters have such good information that it just makes sense to follow the information to where ever the posters information is available. Don't worry. No doubt even facebook is only temporary. Possibly even it will soon be viewed as the 8 track of the information world.
