update wrong time of year cuttings.

So several months ago I showed the 2 cuttings given to me in late October I think. Put them in the hot sunroom under a dark cloth. Looked 10 days ago, nothing Looked today and Kauka Wilder has lots of roots. Not the noid big yellow yet at all. Looks like enough to transplant into a pot on the full moon. Or, since the cutting is so large, maybe right into the ground? roxanne

Hey Rox,
Here is just a helpful suggestion, aka my 2 cents. You may want to wait to take the bag off, usually the bag rooted cuttings do better if there is a full bag of roots. The first time I bag rooted I had a bit more roots in my bag, took the bag off and the soil slid off and ripped the roots with it. I learned that if you have a full root ball, the soil and root ball has a better chance of staying intact.

Hey Foxy Roxy,

It was always my understanding that cuttings can be taken at the bigenning, "OR" at the end of the season, depending on location. For example, in zone 9 in eastern SF Bay Area, I can cut either in March or November.

I was thinking the same freak.....but, in the ground when time or in a pot? I have 5 Kauka Wilder in pots already and this is a big cutting so was hoping for in the ground?

It won't take to long for it to fill with roots now that's it has started... Give it a few more weeks and you should see a nice set of roots like James mentioned.. Then put it in the ground and stake to give it support. I think that will work for you!!

More time, more roots.. Better chance of a better rootball...

Happy Friday!! The weather is so nice you could prob plant it straight in the ground. If you want to plant it now, you could just cut big slits on the sides and bottom a bit and untie the top. You can sink it like a pot, plant it in the ground with the bag around it to avoid damaging the roots. Happy Growing.
