Louisianas have a life cycle. The new foliage grows in the spring and dies back late in the year. The month this occurs depends upon your climate.

When a plant's root system is cut most plants show the shock by exisiting foliage becoming limp. I think that is what has happened with your Louisiana rhizomes. Your zone and the month you dug them would be helpful. I would guess spring is coming to your area so I would leave any existing green foliage alone. It may be able to perform photosythesis to feed the rhizomes.

TY Gal - I do live in Louisiana thus the LA Irises. Didn't dig them up till mid-Jan. & almost mid-Feb. before I could replant. Yes -Spring is on the way tho still chilly. So, you feel even tho they're on the ground / if still green = let them alone. Sounds good to me - TY again.
