Pax have backs for a reason they are just like the backs on your cabinets they are part of the structure as for ease of putting together they take time but I love the Pax system I have it in my bedroom and in about 6 clients houses the organizers are awesome and they look great.

Did you decide on one? I am considering the same two companies.

We just started construction on our house so have several months before I have to make a decision. Still undecided. Price will matter to us as well so still deciding how many shelves vs. hanging space we need. I am looking for master walk in closet, and two smaller walk in closets in teenagers' rooms.

We went the Easycloset route in our existing home and we love the results. Their website allows you to design your closet, which is by far the most important part. You need to measure how much rod space to allow for various lengths of items such as long dresses, short dresses, shirts, etc.. this way you will get the most use out of your closet.

We did two large bedroom closets (not walk-ins), a linen closet and a hall closet. They shipped it all with excellent instructions and we installed them over a weekend. A bar gets mounted to the studs on the wall and everything hangs from that bar. It is a very cool system and you can always change it around. It is unbelievable how much closet space we gained by planning well. And their pricing is way below California Closet though their quality seems very similar.
