Lily of the Valley issue

I have an old patch of lily of the valley in front of the house I purchased 5/13. 2013 they came up just fine and bloomed. However, 2014, when they came up, the green leaves stayed curled up all summer long, although they had the white bell blooms. I have no idea what made the green leaves curl and stay that way all summer.
