I do too. We buy bulbs that aren't half as nice. The edges are starting to ruffle...nice touch.

So do I! And I so agree with Kristi that your seedlings outshine a multitude of registered varieties out there.
I have had Giraffe blooming in the house and I've made some crosses with it both ways, but it's too soon to tell if any have taken...

The crosses between giraffe and cybisters (night star or Lima) have been the most spectacular for me, so I recommend trying that combination if it is at all possible. I hope I will have some more to show in the next few weeks.

I now count 7 scapes coming from the big pot of bulbs....so I can't wait!!

I've got several scapes on Lima and Giraffe coming so it looks like a lot of seeds to play with. My seedlings involving Madame Butterfly from last year are the biggest of the bunch. Maybe some blooms in a couple of years.

Maida, What did you put on Madame Butterfly that gave you such lusty seedlings?

I used Cherry Crush, Flamenco Queen and Amorice on Madame Butterfly. Not many of the Madame Butterfly selfed made it. Also Jewel of the Night on Black Pearl and Lima produced nice size seedlings.

I don't know why but I never have any luck using Lima, either way and I've got a couple of well rooted healthy bulbs, well, I'll keep trying.

I wonder what the cross was that created Madame Butterfly, I'm sure there is info somewhere, Papilio x ?? somewhere in my mind Hercules comes to mind but I don't know why...☺

For the first time I have a Lima x Lima cross showing some life - there is a bud appearing on a 2012 cross. Previous attempts in 2010 and 2011 failed to produce viable seed.

I think it's pretty also. 4 buds in the scape for a first bloomer is a big plus. How big are the flowers?

As this one opens out, it looks more and more like its Night Star
parent. The colour looks different here from
the earlier picture is it is on a dull drizzly late afternoon as opposed to the
earlier bright morning sunlight. I’ve
moved a bunch of cybisters and crosses to our Community Garden and named the hillside
‘Cybister Hill’
