If your cabinets are in good shape I would try some other fixes first. I have wood cabinets, but a bright kitchen. Do you have any windows opening into the kitchen? It looks like you might have a pantry. If so consider removing some upper cabinets and enlarge a window or put in some additional windows. The lighting looks poor. Look into improved lighting and under the cabinet lighting. I am not fond of tile counters - even granite type tile and they are a little dark. Changing to a lighter countertop and backsplash would also lighten the kitchen. Consider white appliances as the black ones die. Stainless if you change to white cabinets.

If you are in love with the idea of a white kitchen and have the money to switch out cabinets - go for it, but I think you can brighten this kitchen without going that far. If you do change out cabinets, see if the present ones can be removed and donated to your local Restore Habitat for Humanity store because they look like they are nice cabinets.

I am in the process of remodeling my kitchen right now. I wanted new cabinets, but the bases were in good shape. I was able to have a cabinet shop make new doors and have them installed for a fraction of the price. Maybe an alternative to al new cabinets. They look like they are in good shape.
