I think they're on the invasive species list. I would say I "know" that, but since I don't know where you live, I can't say with certainty. I like Euonymous alatus alright, but having seen it spread into neighboring woodlands, cannot recommend it anymore. It's no buckthorn, but it is getting away from us.

On the other hand, if you're willing to do quite bit of digging, I'm sure they can be moved. that part is up to you.

Meanwhile, the native eastern wahoo-Euonymous purpurea-is a fantastic plant, and should be used more.

To answer the "can they be dug out?" question - I had six that were 30 years old. I was able to dig them by myself (thought I'd need a truck to pull them out!). A couple of them were stubborn and I needed to use pruners to severe long roots holding them in. Mine were in fairly loose dirt, though, not rock-hard clay.
